Jon Stewart was the host for this event. Walt Disney was the most nominated man who had received 59 nominations. John Williams became the second most nominated in Academy Awards history who received 44th and 45th nomination. It was the second year in a row in Academy Awards that Paul Haggins wrote the screenplay for the Best Picture winner. It was the first time all the four winners in the acting categories were nominated. For cinematography Dion Beebe won for "Memoirs of a Geisha." For costume design Colleen Atwood won for "Memoirs of a Geisha." For film editing Hughes Winborne won for "Crash." For makeup Howard Berger and Tami Lane won for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." Then for writing (adapted screenplay) Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana won for "Brokeback Mountain."
